We have a two story, three bedroomed house, in a village around 2 hours north of Madrid and 45 minutes south of Leon, in the middle of wine and sunflower growing country. Established during Roman times it is typical of small villages with narrow, sun baked streets, with the central square or Plaza, occupied by most, on early evenings in clement weather, to gossip, drink the wonderful wine of the region or just sit, relax and take in the early evening. The village wine, bottled in its own Bodega has won awards as far away as Chin.!
The village has around 500 people, a Saturday market in the plaza, fiestas in August, and as found in this area of Spain, a butcher’s shop with some of the best meat I’ve ever tasted. The baker comes to the village each day, in a van, with fresh bread and pastries, the fishmonger, on Friday, the same. The closest town is 6 kms where we mostly grocery shop, take coffee and tapas and enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere of small town life.
The house itself is approximately 90 m2. A twin bedroom, large triple bedroom with ensuite full bathroom with shower, is located on the first floor. On the ground floor is a double bedroom with shower room ensuite, a renovated and fitted kitchen/dining area, utility room and guest toilet, and comfortable lounge. The kitchen door leads to a patio of approximately 90 m2, with a store cupboards and what was a stable for the animals. This stable needs work but could be changed into a garage for off street parking, although it is very safe to leave you car parked on the street as we have always done.
Yes, the house needs to be finished. The Patio especially hence the low price of 110,000 euros. But most of the interior has been upgraded. All the windows are new with persianas...(roll down blinds), most of the plumbing and electrics upgraded, the five single beds on the first floor are new and the house will be sold with some of the furniture and white goods in the kitchen.
If you are seeking a quiet, relaxing weekend break from a very hectic lifestyle, or holidays different from the usual tourist traps, this could be the place for you. It would also make a very good AirbB&B investment. Running costs and taxes are very low.
